Come one, come all, to Columbia AAG's inaugural event!
Enjoy some delicious food, have a brew (if you so desire), and, best of all, enjoy some good conversation with good people! We will also be discussing future Meetup ideas!
This event is being held at Rams Head Tavern, which is located within the Historic Savage Mill just outside of Columbia. If you have not yet visited Savage Mill then you are certainly in for a treat!
First Meetup? Don't worry, you'll meet great people! First Meetup with this group? Hey, same for us! :)
See you all there!!!

Pricing & Payment (Please Read!):
Due to the size this event has swelled to, we had no choice but to seek another venue, or work with Rams Head to find a way to cope with the amount of folks planning to attend. The agreement we reached with Rams Head is to have a buffet, consisting of the following items:
We are trying to keep the price as close to cost as possible, without Stacie and I ending up footing any portion of the bill which is not ours (We have a wedding coming up, definitely can't afford that!) The dinner itself is $20.00, plus an automatic 18% gratuity, and tax. There are a few possible options for us to collect each member's portion of the tab, and we have chose to make multiple methods available. You can either pay us in advance using PayPal, or pay us at the event, using credit card or cash (no checks!) To prevent having to increase the price to everyone, the price will be set at $26 for those paying cash at the event, or who send payment as a personal gift from a bank account or choose "I will pay the (PayPal) fee," when using credit card. Those who pay at the event using credit card will pay $1 extra, to cover the 2.75% SquareUp fee. You will have to find Stacie or I at Rams Head to pay BEFORE eating. We would prefer that you pay in advance through PayPal, so we can have a more solid headcount to provide to Rams Head (ensuring enough food,) as we are going to account for some potential non-paid no-shows in the count we provide to Rams Head. Email address to send PayPal payments to is [masked] . Please state in the notes who the PayPal payment is for if it will be a person other than the PayPal account holder, so our list of paid names given to Rams Head staff can properly reflect the name.
Even if you find dinner to be too expensive, you are welcome to join us all in the bar for drinks afterwards!
If any of what we stated above is too vague, or you have other questions/requests, please do let us know! Thanks!
Hey Tatyana, this Meetup is next month. Don't want you to show up and wonder where everyone is! :-)
Rebecca, I was about to ask the same... :) Anyone up for a drink and/or dancing?
I'm down for doing something. Tatyana, I sent you a message/email
Hello everyone! Wow, we did not expect so many folks for this first Meetup, but are ecstatic to see such interest in the group! As such, it has been interesting trying to hammer out the details with Ram's Head, though it looks as if they may expect us to provide full payment for everyone up front now. There is the obvious issue of making sure that the food choices available cater to everyone's dietary needs/tastes. I will keep everyone posted, and send out an email when we get more firm details!
Hello. I'm coming from Rockville. Anybody want to carpool there. If interested, just contact me, and we could arrange a meet up place and head to Rams Head Tavern. My e-mail is Hugo60701@gmail.com
I hate to see that several people have dropped out of going, but we understand that the restaurant buffet is not ideal for everyone(seriously, it is like a reception because we have a room and a buffet...they said above 30 people they could not do separate checks or the regular menu, and out of the options they gave us, this was the cheapest.). I hope that you can make it to the next meetups though, and that you will post ideas of what you want to do in the discussion thread.
The pavilions at Centennial Lake are nice and could work if we know we're having this many or more. I figure a few hundred to rent it, and a few more for food, some volunteers to work the grills, Costco quality burgers in bulk, cheese, beverages. A keg and some box wine or punch... or, go with a mobile caterer? Anyone have any experience with them? I know from many years (years ago) photo'ing social events, that there are many very good ones. Another consideration - must reserve pavilions early.
Ed, you are definitely thinking along the same lines that Adam and I have been. We were discussing putting up a cookout and games afternoon meetup some time, so I will check out the pavillions at Centennial Lake to get a more firm estimate of cost.
I wish I could be of more help but it's been 16 years since I once rented one. I do know it is surprisingly easy for even 150 people. That only meant 150 more pairs of hands to help and they did, without asking. Everyone chipped in so it was almost effortless. It's fun how loud music can be played and 10 feet in the other direction of the speakers people can talk normally as nothing reflects the sound. And if this group is anything like another I'm in then anywhere indoors is too contained. LOL
Hey all! I forgot to mention in the email sent out, even if you can't make the dinner, you are all still welcome to come join us at the bar for drinks afterwards!
Hopefully can make it in time to catch everyone for a drink at the bar!
I can not make the dinner but still plan to come for drinks. Do you want me to change my RSVP to no? I dont want to mess up the money amount or number of people?
You can RSVP yes if you wish, just please be sure to specify "only drinks," or something along those lines as a comment on the RSVP.
People may not know, if they have already RSVP'd and want to add a comment they can still do that by going to Change RSVP (green box in upper right) and instead of changing it simply RSVP as if you are doing it for the first time. You now have a comment box available.
NP. Meetup's awesome, so many features and works so consistently well. I can't think offhand of a single thing to improve and that's saying a lot for someone who goes back so far with the internet it was merely Q-Link, a BBS for Apple made machines only, monochrome text only, no photos and video online? Are you kidding me? Always messages posted with a delay, it wasn't even quite live - but then I also beta tested dirt v 1.0 ;- >
To those folks who were no-shows, please, please, please do not RSVP to an event if you are not committed to attending, or at least update your RSVP as soon as you realize that you will not be able to attend. Thank you for your future cooperation on this matter! :-)
Will try to make tomorrow, sounds like a lot of fun!
